With the new Fjordur map DLC right around the corner, we’ve compiled a list of the most common questions asked by our server players regarding the launch.
Will The Friendly Server be hosting the Fjordur map?
Yes! We endeavour to host all official maps and do so on their launch dates.
How will Fjordur be integrated into the server cluster?
As always with new maps, we will add Fjordur to the main cluster. However, there will be a probation period of two (2) months (subject to change).
What does this mean?
- You will be able to transfer your regular character to Fjordur from any map on the cluster, but you cannot bring anything with you. Your character must be naked.
- You will still keep your levels, engrams and progress obtained on the rest of the cluster.
- You can transfer from Fjordur back to any of the other maps on the cluster, and you are welcome to bring loot you have found with you. Remember though – you will not then be able to bring that back to Fjordur whilst in the probation period.
- ARK data and creatures uploads will be enabled on Fjordur during the probation period, but downloads on Fjordur will be disabled during this time.
- You are welcome to transfer the four new creatures (Andrewsarchus, Desmodus, Fenrir and Fjordhawk) tamed on Fjordur to the other maps, but again, you will not be able to bring them back to Fjordur whilst in the probation period.
This probation period is in place to ensure all players, new or veterans, can experience the map at the same pace without the influence of endgame gear obtained on the rest of the cluster. You’ll be back to running naked on the beach and punching trees in order to build your first shack in order to survive the night!
What happens when the Fjordur probation period is over?
Once the probation period is over, the map will be opened up fully on the cluster. This will then operate like any of the other maps – you’ll be able to transfer to and from any of the maps freely with your gear. Regular map rules will still apply (such as non-native creatures on Aberration).
Will there be mods on the Fjordur map?
Fjordur will feature all of the same mods found across all other maps on The Friendly Server’s cluster. You can see a full list here.
All of the rates will also match the rest of the cluster.
Will patrons be able to claim the four new creatures (Andrewsarchus, Desmodus, Fenrir and Fjordhawk)?
Patrons are welcome to claim any of the new creatures on the cluster, however claims (of any kind) will be prohibited on Fjordur during the probation period. Once this period is over, you will be able to claim the new creatures and any others you wish.
Update: The Fenrir is not patron-claimable due to the boss requirements to tame it.
We will be happy to offer dino paint requests to patrons on Fjordur during the probation period – this is the only exception to the rule.
Regular map rules will still apply with patron claims (such as non-native creatures on Aberration).
Will Fjordur be added as a crossplay/Epic Games/unmodded map?
There are no current plans to add to this our crossplay server. If there are enough funds and interest, this is something we may reconsider at a later date. For now, Fjordur will only be available on our modded cluster.
What else should I know?
All of our usual server rules will apply on Fjordur.
We may also see some new players on the Fjordur map – be sure to be your usual friendly selves and encourage new players to join our Discord server if they have not already.
If you have any more questions, please post them in our Discord server and we’ll be happy to help.
We look forward to seeing you on the Fjordur!
